Maybe I'm a big Nolan apologist, but The Prestige had a great ending for me. The twin was foreshadowed (when Michael Caine's character suggested that Borden had a double, and the constant presence of the twin brother) and the pseudo-science as magic bit didn't come out of nowhere, being as the movie took place in the same time period as books such as Frankenstein, Invisible Man and The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (the first instances of fringe science, if you will), and we spent a sizable portion of time watching Tesla develop the science in the movie. Good stuff =)

Re: Top 7 twist endings that sucked

I loved your list, first off =) But I do disagree with your suggestion that Inception had a twist ending. There certainly was a twist in that movie: SPOILER (Cobb caused his wife to believe the real world was a dream, leading to her unintended suicide). But the ending is pretty cut and dry once you think it through: 1) Michael Caine appears, which would be the first time in the movie he was in a dream; 2) the kids are noticably older-looking, being taller before they turn around and 3) when the movie cuts to black, you can hear the sound of the top wavering. But I like that they didn't show it fall, because even though the ending is clear, you still can ask "what if I'm wrong?" and it makes you think the movie through again.

Re: MEGAMIND teaser suggests Dreamworks never learn

I don't agree with you. Pixar may be praised up all the time, but I think DreamWorks' animations are better and funnier.
Except for "Bee Movie" and "Antz", DreamWork's movies are very entertaining and creative. I usually watch Pixar's movies once, because they are boring to me.
And Megamind is great, it's worth watching.

Re: Top 10 reasons why I didn’t like AVATAR

I disagree with you altogether. I LOVED this movie and I'm happy to tell you why. What I look for in a good movie is to be entertained on the "feel good" level. I didn't see it in 3-D and I'm glad cause the scenes ARE busy enough that they don't need the extra. Avatar told the story of the Pilgrims and the Indians with the Indians coming out on top. In our world, the real world, it's always conqueor, conqueor! I'm not a fan of the conqueoror, I'm for everyman, the under dog, the poor man. This movie was just that, a movie, but it was spectacularly done! The technology was cutting edge. I didn't know if I was looking at animated or computer-generated characters, but as it turns out, it was neither! I was bowled over by James Cameron's vision and the scope of what he along with this cast of characters did. I think as a film, it's phenomenal and the first of its kind. It wasn't meant to be real or realistic or anything of the sort. If you want that...watch a documentary. If you want to see earth, look at CNN. If you want entertainment, watch AVATAR! It's great!

Re: MEGAMIND teaser suggests Dreamworks never learn

I completely disagree. I went to watch this movie with the same doubts (the trailers don't really do it any justice), in fact I was determined to hate it and only went because my little brother begged me to take him, but what a pleasant surprise it turned out to be! From the first line it had me hook, line and sinker; I was in stitches by the end of the film. And not only was it funny, Megamind also turned out to be a very lovable character--he's adorable! It's the best animated movie I've seen since Shrek. I encourage everyone, children and adults alike, to watch this movie. It's totally worth it!

Re: 10 film trilogies with bad third chapters

This list is ass. That's why I don't agree with this nature stuff crap. We need to become the gods of our type. Living for the purpose of living is pointless. We have to at least try to become something more than animals on a planet (or moon). That's my #1 point, and the last one at that.

Re: First full trailer for SUCKER PUNCH: what the hell am I watching?

It's Chicago meets The Matrix. It's Dragon Quest meets A Very Long Engagement. It's AI meets Annie. It's Mouse Hunt meets Girl Interupted. It's every edgy notion Zack Snyder ever reprocessed from every movie, comic or game he ever came into contact with.

It stars Australia's own Emily Browning as a plucky blonde in a skimpy costume that quotes the roaring 20s and Sailor Moon and it has Scott Glenn hamming it up in a role that might have gone to David Carradine were he still with us. I would usually hate this film just based on this trailer, but I enjoyed Watchmen right off the bat without caring a crap about Alan Moore - so maybe Snyder will put this off. We shall see.

Re: Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis get naked, have casual sex

I concur! Saw this trailer a few days ago and it looks promising - which of course is exactly what a good trailer is supposed to do. But JT star is on the rise film-wise and Mila Kunis has clearly been going places since THAT 70s SHOW, so maybe this'll work.

Re: Watching the BIG MOMMAS: LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON trailer is like shooting fish in a barrel

I hate Martin Lawrence with the white hot heat of the sun. It still is very 'fantasy' based with the magic and all, but not as joyful or harmless as the previous Harry Potter film. It is drastically different to past movies, especially the first few Harry Potter films which could be classified as playful and maybe mediocre in terms of danger and fear created, however I for one am extremely looking forward to the release of this hopefully epic finale to a great franchise that I have grown up with (I'm only 18) ;) It has been good and it feels very strange for something so good to come to an end. Good character posters or not, the movies are very well executed and all true fans can only agree, besides these aren't the real, final products of the posters. Look at the real posters, they are indeed 'fantasy' based and are breathtaking and surreal.

Re: Top 5 movies you didn’t know were science fiction

Not science movie but Romance ...

I love romance movie ... your blog very nice

thanks

Re: MEGAMIND teaser suggests Dreamworks never learn

I loved the movie it's hilarious!!!
